Wave Function Collapse
It is time. Unlike just a few weeks ago, it is actually finally happening. The wave function of future possibilities is collapsing into a more final, limited form. While it is a little disappointing to see that so many different opportunities have started closing, I knew that this day was coming. I like to think that I was ready enough for it. Oh well.
Do you want to take a closer look at what's happened so far? Well, as expected, I am deferred from MIT. I had hoped to go to Purdue for nearly free. I did not win the Lily scholarship, which I am fine with, but they gave me a scholarship for engineering which I can't even use. I feel a bit taunted by that, ironically. So no full ride from the CFGL, what's next? The Purdue acceptance letter arrived, which was expected but still good news. Unfortunately, no merit scholarship was included. I really did hope that I would get at least one of them, netting me a few thousand dollars. Common thought around the school is that they were distributed a bit randomly as students that seemingly wouldn't qualify got it and many people who other people thought deserved it didn't get it. Of course, I'm not going to discredit the people who got it though, there must be a reason they got it. This information might be a bit too specific, but a student got both the Lily and the highest scholarship from Purdue. I can only wish I was in that position. Now, if they get an acceptance from an ivy-tier school, I can almost guarantee the school will match their funding at Purdue or make the cost of attendance negligible. By getting a local scholarship, they acquired additional aid at all ivy tier colleges.
Well, I'm now stuck in a bit of a pickle. Purdue is a great school and I would not regret anything attending, but the cost is getting a bit high now without any scholarships. Well, not all hope is lost, time is still left on the clock. Wouldn't it be ironic if I had to attend somewhere like Harvard for their better financial aid. I'm just daydreaming though at this point. Well, I'll write another post at some point.
